The
Atacama desert is also the ideal starting point to reach
the “Altiplano" (Andean high plateau), where
the Aymara indians live, with herds of llamas.
From
Arica, on the coast, we offer excursions to the interior
and in two hours you will arrive to one of
the highest volcanos, at 6.500 meters of altitude we find
the Sajama Volcano. Among others places of interest, we find
the Chungará Lake, the highest of the world, at 4.500
meters of altitude, pictorial andean towns, salares and National
Parks.
Further South, we find the Atacama Salar,
with its 300.000 hectares of territory, the oasis-town of
San Pedro de Atacama, which is the tourist capital of the
chilean north, due to its natural wonders. The Moon Valley,
with its geological rocks formations, the geysers of Tatio,
and altiplanic valleys, canyons and towns like Toconao, or
altiplanic lakes (at 4.000 mts of altitude), there are lots
of places of interest when you travel north.

Besides,
and arqueological museum was built by a Belgian priest,
who gathered numerous arqueological vestiges, such as pottery
and momies, which are witnesses of the history in this
region.
Antofagasta,
the fifth city of importance within Chile, known by its
rock formation called "La
Portada" (symbol of the city) and the historical part
of the city, with its old buildings and museums.
Copiapó, it is the place where many
had tried to climb the Ojos del Salado volcano (6.895 meters).
In this area, you can be a witness to the blooming of the
desert, when the climatic phenomenon of "El Niño",
a tropical current coming down from Perú, does affect
this area.
At La Serena, you will find an exceptional
place to rest and enjoy differents activities outdoors,
due to its climate and beaches. Tours to the Elqui Valley,
will show you the making of Pisco, the traditional beverage
of the chileans, besides wine.
The northern part of Chile is ideal for
